Summer in Memphis: Philosophy à la Sweet Tea
While we sincerely hope that the thoughts and pressures of scholarly pursuit have left your minds for some time to come (it’s only July!), we put this to you: what could be a more fitting compliment to your inflatable pool mattress than the musings provoked from a medieval treatise on formal logic? But seriously, we have some announcements:

Reading Doesn’t Have to Mean Classrooms
For those of you who did not find humor in that suggestion, look no further. The Philosophy Circle is pleased to announce the formation of a reading group, to begin early in August and continue throughout the year. The reading circle will meet on a bi-monthly basis at the University Lounge, a hookah and Turkish coffee spa off Highland Street and will be a group-led effort in collaborative learning and community building. If you’re interested in enjoying life’s finer pleasures (conversation, laughter, and hookah), please contact The Circle at the email below or visit our website (include your name, student id (begins with “U”), and reading interests in your response).

Officer Openings: An Opportunity to Boss Others
Running The Circle can be a demanding affair, requiring the dedication and commitment of many talented students. But it is also an esteemed privilege, affording undergrads the opportunity to organize events and build personal relationships with faculty members as well as the greater philosophy community. If you dare, we encourage you to apply for this opportunity by visiting our website below and clicking the “Officers” link at the top.
